This report presents a summary of divergent views on suburbanization, its consequences and causes, as well as a scan of the range of opinions regarding what should be done. The unique influence of rugged topography on growth patterns and sprawl are identified to facilitate community discussion of important local issues related to obscured consequences of sprawl in Hamilton County’s hillside environment.

This report presents the results of an analysis of IRS migration data for the years 1984-1997. The data are used to examine migration trends between Hamilton County and the other counties of the Cincinnati-Hamilton County CMSA, the State of Ohio, other Census Regions, and other U.S. metropolitan areas. Included as well are data for household size and per capita income. The report is part of a series of research reports providing technical information to support local and county-wide comprehensive community planning.

In October 2001, 12 Community Forums were held throughout the County, including a Youth Forum. An Online Forum was also conducted in October. The results of these Forums provided foundation material for creating goals, objectives, and strategies for Community COMPASS.

This report uses the findings of a study conducted by the Fannie Mae Foundation in 1999 to theorize how certain influences might affect Hamilton County and other metropolitan regions in the United States.

This report presents existing conditions and trends related to Hamilton County's changing demographics including age-sex structure, race, ethnicity, migration, and other socio-economic characteristics.
The report identifies six important findings as well as the importance of trends associated with each finding, and provides key indicators
or measures that help us understand the constantly changing characteristics of our population.

In Hamilton County, local political jurisdictions have a critical role in creating and implementing countywide plans. Most people assume that the Board of County Commissioners can adopt a plan for Hamilton County and then proceed with implementation – not in Ohio.
