COUNTY PLANNERS TURN TO RESIDENTS FOR OPINIONS ON GROWTH
Survey focuses on development, priorities

CINCINNATI —The Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission is distributing 4,500 surveys to residents throughout the county to gauge public opinion on development and other priority issues.

“This survey is just the beginning of an intensive public participation process for a master plan,” said Ron Miller, executive director of the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission. “Public forums and community outreach will be used to gather as much public input as possible. We hope citizens will use this opportunity to help shape the future of our county.”

This survey will be used to build a foundation for Community COMPASS, the Comprehensive Master Plan and Strategies for Hamilton County. The plan – developed in collaboration with residents, business leaders and civic leaders – could make the county more competitive at state and federal funding and help unify voices of the county’s 49 jurisdictions.

“We’re excited to be part of this consensus-building initiative,” Miller said, “and we’re confident Community COMPASS will result in a clear direction that all of us can embrace.”

The Regional Planning Commission partnered with Cincinnati-based Burke Marketing Research to administer the survey. Burke used a scientific, random selection process to distribute the survey, which includes questions ranging from the community flavor residents prefer to opinions on why people are moving out of the county. Results should be available by the end of November.
